Buckeye PD participates in virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Arizona Special Olympics is part of Buckeye Police Department tradition. The current health pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s event but that is not stopping us. The tradition will continue VIRTUALLY!
Starting Thursday, April 30 and ending on Sunday, May 3, 2020, members of BPD will join other area law enforcement agencies in a virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The mission of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run is to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Arizona. We carry the Torch representing the Flame of Hope and dedicate ourselves to helping Special Olympics Arizona throughout the state. We would not want a year to go by without the Special Athletes knowing that we support them as the Guardians of the Flame.
This year BPD members will run, bike, or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) on their own and post a photo to social media. We have invited the public to join us virtually and participate in their own 5K and post photos with the hashtags #AZLETR and #WeAreBPD, so that Special Olympics athletes can see the support from the community.
