Truth in taxation public hearing
The city of Buckeye is holding a public hearing at their regularly scheduled City Council meeting on June 18 at 6 p.m., 530 E. Monroe Avenue, to provide an opportunity for residents to comment on the total amount of property taxes the city collected from one fiscal year to the next.
The primary property tax on a $100,000 home will remain at $180.00, as it has for the past six years.
Buckeye’s total revenue from its primary property taxes will increase more than $543,271, a 6.48 percent increase over last year. The increase is due to the rise in the net assessed property values of residential homes within Buckeye.
This proposed tax does not include any primary property taxes received from new construction, any changes that may occur from property tax levies, or voter approved bonds or budget and tax overrides.
The public hearing is open for comment to all Buckeye residents. Residents can complete a comment card to provide input on the proposed property tax agenda item. The City Council Agenda and Council packet will be available by the close of business on June 18, 2018 at buckeyeaz.gov/meetings-minutes/

Truth in Taxation Hearing: Notice of Tax Increase
This notice provides compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statute and states:
In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, the city of Buckeye is notifying its property taxpayers of the city of Buckeye’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. The city of Buckeye is proposing an increase in the primary property tax levy of $543,271 above the TNT levy amount or a 6.48% increase.
The proposed tax increase will cause the city of Buckeye’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from the TNT amount of $169.05 to the proposed amount of $180.00 a $10.95 increase.
This proposed tax is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The primary property tax is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides. All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax that is scheduled to be held June 18, 2019, at 6 p.m., at the city of Buckeye City Hall located at 530 East Monroe Avenue, Arizona.
It is the City Council’s position that the city’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home will remain at $180.00 per year as it has the last 6 years.
