Buckeye Police 911 Center Receives Highly Prized Recognition

Post Date:05/21/2019 12:34 pm

The Buckeye Police Department’s 911 Dispatch Center is proud to be the only public safety communications center in Arizona to earn International Communications Accreditation status through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (C.A.L.E.A.).  Certificate from CALEA

This prestigious recognition makes the Buckeye Police Department the first and only law enforcement agency in the state to achieve CALEA’s International Accredited status for both its law enforcement and communications operations.

CALEA accredits public safety agencies, including communications centers, which demonstrate compliance with an established set of professional standards and consistently achieve excellence in their policies, procedures and practices. CALEA Accreditation is a voluntary process intended to enhance an organizations effectiveness, quality assurance and promote transparency and community trust.

The arduous accreditation process started in the fall 2018 and culminated in May 2019 when Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall and members of the department’s communications center appeared before the CALEA Commission. That hearing determined BPD’s communications center met or exceeded all applicable standards with no areas of concern.

“I am extremely proud of this distinguished achievement,” said Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall. “These awards reflect of the dedication to excellence exhibited on a daily basis by the men and women of this organization.”

The Buckeye Police Department earned CALEA accreditation in law enforcement in 2016. This was the first time BPD’s Communications Center went through and received accreditation.
