Buckeye Airport receives $275,000 grant

Post Date:08/02/2018 9:57 am

The Buckeye Municipal Airport was recently awarded a $275,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to rehabilitate and replace 17,500 square yards of asphalt and concrete and 11,000 square feet of taxiway at the southern end of the airport.

The grant money includes all the design and engineering costs to make these improvements. It also includes the design of edge lighting for both the ramp area and southern taxiway. Both of these areas are currently not lit, so this will be a much needed safety improvement to the airport.

In addition, the grant money includes a backup generator for the administration building and fueling facility. This will ensure the airport maintains operational readiness of essential services during a power outage.

The design process for all of these project will be completed in 2019 and construction will take place in Fiscal Year 19/20.
